Atlanta Hawks
Veesaar suffered the injury during a workout on Sept. 15, and an MRI confirmed the diagnosis. The No. 52 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, Veesaar was expected to spend a lot of time with Atlanta's G League affiliate this season.
- Mouhamed GueyeDay-To-Day
Gueye will be re-evaluated by medical staff in 3-to-4 months, which means he'll miss all of training camp and preseason and likely the start of the 2026-27 regular season. It's a brutal blow for the fourth-year big man, given that the Hawks used the No. 23 overall pick of the 2026 NBA Draft to select St. John's product Zuby Ejiofor. Gueye's absence means Ejiofor will have more opportunities in the preseason, and the rookie could establish a key role off the bench behind Onyeka Okongwu and projected backup center Jock Landale (ankle).
Brooklyn Nets
Coach Jordi Fernandez confirmed Friday that the rookie is still dealing with back stiffness and isn't ready to return, although Jefferson has participated in portions of team activities and has been doing conditioning work. Fernandez was also unable to confirm whether Jefferson has undergone imaging. With Brooklyn's regular-season opener against Charlotte scheduled for Wednesday, it's safe to rule him out.
Boston Celtics
- Derrick WhiteDay-To-Day
Most of Boston's regulars are getting the night off. White is expected to be in action for Tuesday's regular-season opener against the Pistons.
- Devin CarterDay-To-Day
Carter will miss a third consecutive contest due to an illness. The 2024 first-rounder is signed to a non-guaranteed deal and could be let go before the Celtics' regular-season opener against the Pistons on Tuesday.
- Jayson TatumDay-To-Day
Tatum and the rest of Boston's regulars will sit out the final exhibition. He's expected to be full go for the regular-season opener against Detroit on Tuesday.
- Mike ConleyDay-To-Day
Conley is not one of the players Grande listed in either the starting lineup nor who will dress for Friday's preseason finale. Conley should be available for Boston's regular-season opener against Detroit, but what his role and playing time will look like remains to be seen, given that he's projected to work behind Derrick White and Payton Pritchard.
- Mitchell RobinsonDay-To-Day
Robinson and the rest of Boston's regulars won't play in the final exhibition but should be good to go for Tuesday's regular-season opener against the Pistons. Robinson produced 12 points (5-5 FG, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, three blocks and an assist over 17 minutes in Wednesday's 114-93 preseason win over the Hornets.
- Neemias QuetaDay-To-Day
Most of Boston's regulars are getting the night off. Queta is expected to be ready for Tuesday's regular-season opener against the Pistons.
- Paul GeorgeDay-To-Day
George and the rest of Boston's regulars won't suit up for the final exhibition but should be good to go for Tuesday's regular-season finale against the Pistons. George registered 13 points (3-10 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 5-6 FT), five rebounds, four assists and five steals over 25 minutes during his Celtics debut against the 76ers last Saturday.
- Payton PritchardDay-To-Day
Pritchard and the rest of Boston's regulars won't be available for the final exhibition but should be good to go for the regular-season opener against the Pistons on Tuesday. Pritchard provided seven points (3-11 FG, 1-4 3Pt), 11 assists and three rebounds over 29 minutes off the bench during Wednesday's 114-93 preseason win over Charlotte.
- Sam HauserDay-To-Day
Hauser and other prominent Celtics players, like Jayson Tatum, Paul George and Derrick White, will rest for Friday's preseason finale. The Celtics will open their regular season Tuesday against the Pistons, and Hauser is once again expected to operate in a rotational role off the bench, though he'll be competing against the likes of Jordan Walsh, Baylor Scheierman (rest), Hugo Gonzalez and Ron Harper for playing time.
Charlotte Hornets
- Coby WhiteDay-To-Day
White missed time with a left calf strain last season and is now in jeopardy of starting the regular season on the inactive list. If the 26-year-old guard is forced to miss time beyond the preseason, Christian Anderson and Dennis Schroder would likely see increased playing time.
- Grant WilliamsDay-To-Day
Williams will be re-evaluated the first week of the regular season, putting his status for Opening Night in the air. Williams will have a difficult path to minutes this season as he competes with the likes of Naz Reid, Royce O'Neale and Tidjane Salaun.
- Grayson AllenDay-To-Day
Allen missed a third consecutive contest due to right knee soreness. If he's unable to play in Wednesday's regular-season opener against Atlanta, Sion James and Royce O'Neale could see increased minutes.
- Kon KnueppelDay-To-Day
Knueppel's status for Opening Night remains uncertain as he continues to work his way back from his left hamstring injury. Peterson's comments suggest the Hornets aren't ready to rule out the second-year wing, though his availability will likely become clearer as training camp progresses. He has already been ruled out for the entire preseason, to be clear.
- Kylan BoswellDay-To-Day
It doesn't sound like the two-way guard will be available for the preseason, but he's hopeful to not miss any time during the G League season. Boswell is not expected to be a significant part of the Hornets' rotation this season.
- Moussa DiabateDay-To-Day
Diabate can be considered day-to-day moving forward, and his status for Wednesday's regular-season opener in Brooklyn remains unclear. If he's sidelined, Ryan Kalkbrenner and rookie Hannes Steinbach would be candidates for increased roles.
Chicago Bulls
- Isaac OkoroDay-To-Day
The Bulls have not yet revealed exactly what Okoro is dealing with, but he didn't practice Tuesday, and this will be his second straight game on the sidelines. For now, he should be considered questionable for Wednesday's regular-season opener in Toronto.
- Nicolas ClaxtonDay-To-Day
This is a huge blow for Claxton and it rules him out for the entire preseason. For now, fantasy managers can consider him questionable for Opening Night on Oct. 21 against the Raptors. Jalen Smith is the next man up on the depth chart for Chicago, followed by Zach Collins (toe).
- Tobe AwakaDay-To-Day
Awaka will miss Chicago's final two preseason games due to the knee injury, but for what it's worth, head coach Tiago Splitter said he's "close" to a return. The Bulls open their season on Oct. 21 in Toronto, and for now, Awaka should be considered questionable for that one.
- Zach CollinsDay-To-Day
Collins will wind up missing all four of Chicago's preseason games due to this toe injury, but head coach Tiago Splitter did say that Collins is "close" to getting back to the court. For now, Collins should be considered questionable for the Bulls' regular-season opener on Oct. 21 in Toronto.
Cleveland Cavaliers
- Khalifa DiopDay-To-Day
Diop is away from the team while tending to a knee injury. His next chance to rejoin Cleveland comes next Thursday for the season opener against the 76ers.
- Nae'Qwan TomlinDay-To-Day
Tomlin is away from the team while tending to a back injury. He carries no timetable for a return.
- Sam MerrillDay-To-Day
Merrill will be held out of Cleveland's preseason finale due to right elbow soreness. The 30-year-old sharpshooter's next opportunity to play will come in the Cavaliers' regular-season opener against Philadelphia on Thursday, Oct. 22.
Dallas Mavericks
- Dereck Lively IIDay-To-Day
Lively, who is recovering from foot surgery he underwent back in December, will wind up missing all four of Dallas' preseason games. Given that there hasn't been any reporting of Lively ramping up his workload, it seems there's a real chance he won't be ready for the start of the 2026-27 season.
- Jett HowardDay-To-Day
Howard will miss another preseason contest due to an illness. However, he should be ready to go for Opening Night against the Rockets, barring a setback.
- Max ChristieDay-To-Day
Christie will skip Dallas' preseason finale for maintenance purposes, but he should be fine for the Mavs' regular season opener against the Rockets on Wednesday. With Christie out, there will be more minutes available for Zaccharie Risacher, Caleb Martin and Sergio de Larrea.
- Santi AldamaDay-To-Day
Aldama hasn't played during the preseason due to a knee injury. While he's trending favorably toward a return, it's unknown if he will be ready to go when the Mavericks begin the regular season against the Rockets on Wednesday. If not, that should mean more minutes for rookie Morez Johnson, Naji Marshall and Zaccharie Risacher.
- Tarik BiberovicDay-To-Day
Biberovic will skip the Mavs' preseason finale, and it's unclear if he'll be ready when the regular season tips for Dallas on Wednesday in Houston. Biberovic will provide some emergency depth to the Mavs' frontcourt, but he's not expected to have a significant role in Dallas.
Denver Nuggets
- Aaron GordonDay-To-Day
Gordon is being held out of Denver's final preseason game for maintenance purposes, but he should be fine for Thursday's regular-season opener in Oklahoma City. Trevon Brazile will start in Gordon's place Friday evening.
Strawther suffered the injury in Wednesday's preseason game against the Clippers. The 24-year-old has appeared in 172 regular-season games for the Nuggets since entering the league in 2023, averaging 7.1 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists over 16.2 minutes per contest. He was in line to compete for an expanded role during the 2026-27 campaign. While that may be the case once Strawther is cleared to suit up, Tyus Jones and potentially Ryan Nembhard are candidates to receive more minutes in the interim.
- Spencer JonesDay-To-Day
It appears unlikely that Jones will be recovered from a hamstring injury in time to receive any preseason reps. Given where he's at in his rehab, Jones' status for the start of the regular season is in limbo as well.
Golden State Warriors
- Al HorfordDay-To-Day
The veteran center isn't making the trip to Las Vegas for this exhibition. He'll look to return for Friday's preseason finale versus Portland.
- Jimmy ButlerOut
Butler, who underwent surgery after suffering the injury Jan. 19, has progressed to individual court work but still has several rehabilitation milestones to clear. His next step involves landing comfortably after a game-speed jump. Coach Steve Kerr is hopeful Butler can rejoin Golden State for the latter portion of the season, though no official return date has been announced. The 37-year-old forward remains a significant part of the Warriors' plans and could provide a substantial boost during the second half of the campaign.
Head coach Steve Kerr still has no update on Porzingis' timeline for a return, per Luca Evans of the San Francisco Chronicle. With so much camp time missed, the big man's status for the start of the regular season remains in serious doubt at this point.
- Moses MoodyOut
Moody has been limited to individual court work, but team sources indicate he's ahead of Jimmy Butler (knee) in the rehabilitation process and is expected to return before the veteran forward. The 24-year-old still has several recovery checkpoints to complete, and Golden State has not established an official timetable. His eventual return would help replenish a Warriors wing rotation that will open the season without both Moody and Butler.
Houston Rockets
- Steven AdamsDay-To-Day
The Rockets didn't provide an update on Adams' status ahead of tipoff, though he won't see the floor Thursday. The big man's next chance to play will come in Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Mavericks.
Indiana Pacers
- Aaron NesmithDay-To-Day
Nesmith revealed Thursday that a hamstring injury kept him out of Tuesday's exhibition against Oklahoma City, though he described himself as feeling "pretty good." The 27-year-old forward will finish the preseason on the sidelines, and his availability for Indiana's regular-season opener remains uncertain. Kelly Oubre and Ben Sheppard could see additional opportunities on the wing if Nesmith's absence extends into the regular season.
- Jarace WalkerDay-To-Day
This will be Walker's second straight game on the shelf for unspecified reasons. Walker can be considered questionable ahead of Opening Night.
Furphy started in 21 of 35 regular-season appearances for the Pacers, posting averages of 5.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.7 three-pointers in 18.4 minutes per contest. While no timetable has been announced, Furphy's absence could extend through the beginning of the 2026-27 season. With this news, the Pacers will likely lean more on Ben Sheppard, Kam Jones and Quenton Jackson moving forward.
- T.J. McConnellDay-To-Day
McConnell will end up sitting out the entire preseason and there's been no clarity on what's going on with the veteran point guard. If healthy, he projects as Indiana's backup point guard this season.
LA Clippers
- Bradley BealOut
Beal is dealing with knee inflammation that will keep him sidelined for Opening Night. While it's unclear how long the Clippers will be without the veteran guard, Darius Garland, Keaton Wagler and Kris Dunn should dominate the backcourt minutes in his absence. Beal's 2025-26 campaign was cut short by a hip injury after he averaged 8.2 points and 1.7 assists in 20.6 minutes across just six regular-season appearances.
The Clippers learned about the injury this summer, though it's unclear exactly how far along Ingram is in his recovery. The star forward's timeline for a return is unclear, clouding his fantasy outlook in the meantime. Darius Garland should take on all the usage he can handle in Ingram's stead, while Kris Dunn and Max Strus could have additional streaming appeal early in the year.
It's a tough break for Miller, who had an opportunity to battle for a reserve role during training camp in the fall. The timeline for a return is likely to keep him on the shelf until after the All-Star break. Miller's extended stay on the sidelines gives Kobe Sanders a chance to crack the Clippers' rotation.
- Kobe SandersDay-To-Day
While Sanders isn't available for the Clippers' final preseason game, the team is optimistic he will be cleared to suit up for Opening Night against the Kings. With Max Strus (foot), Bradley Beal (knee) and Brandon Ingram (Achilles) all sidelined to begin the 2026-27 campaign, Sanders might be in line for a more prominent role. The 24-year-old appeared in 68 regular-season games as a rookie in 2024-25, starting 16 of them, averaging 7.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists over 19.9 minutes per contest.
- Kris DunnDay-To-Day
After appearing in each of the Clippers' first two preseason games, Dunn will be sidelined Wednesday for rest purposes. The veteran guard's next chance to suit up will come in the club's regular-season opener Oct. 21 against the Kings, when he could see an elevated role with Bradley Beal (knee) ruled out for Opening Night.
- Max StrusOut
Plantar fascia injuries can be tricky to recover from, with the only remedy typically being prolonged rest, so don't be surprised if Strus' absence extends well beyond this initial four-week window. With Strus now set to miss at least the first few weeks of the season, and Bradley Beal (knee) uncertain for opening night, Keaton Wagler could be thrust into the first unit sooner than expected.
Niederhauser is progressing from March surgery but won't be able to suit up to begin the year. The Clippers are likely to take a cautious approach with the 2025 first-rounder. Isaiah Jackson should occupy the backup center spot behind Brook Lopez early in the campaign.
Los Angeles Lakers
- Adou ThieroDay-To-Day
Thiero will miss the Lakers' final two exhibition games for "maintenance." It's unclear if he'll be good to go for Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Warriors.
- Cameron CarrDay-To-Day
Carr will miss a third consecutive contest due to a contusion. His next chance to play will come in Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Warriors.
- Collin SextonDay-To-Day
Sexton will end up missing the entire preseason due to a lower right leg injury. However, head coach JJ Redick said he's trending in the right direction ahead of Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Warriors.
- Jarred VanderbiltDay-To-Day
Vanderbilt was spotted in street clothes, though it's unknown why he isn't playing in the Lakers' preseason finale. His next chance to suit up will come in Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Warriors.
Memphis Grizzlies
- GG JacksonDay-To-Day
Head coach Tuomas Iisalo said that Jackson tweaked his ankle during Friday's preseason win over the Bulls, so he'll miss Friday's preseason finale and will be listed as "day-to-day." For now, he should be considered questionable for Wednesday's regular season opener against the Jazz.
Stewart, who was traded from Detroit to Memphis over the summer, sustained a left ankle sprain in the team's preseason opener and is now likely to miss Opening Night. His absence opens the door for Quinten Post to move into the backup center role behind Zach Edey in the interim.
- Jerami GrantDay-To-Day
Grant is dealing with "general soreness," so he will sit out the Grizzlies' final preseason contest. Barring an unforeseen setback, he should be ready to go on Opening Night against the Jazz.
- Micah PeavyDay-To-Day
Peavy will end up missing the entirety of the preseason due to an ankle injury. His next opportunity to suit up will come in Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Jazz.
Miami Heat
- Bam AdebayoDay-To-Day
Adebayo won't suit up for Friday's preseason finale due to right groin tightness. The star big man's next chance to suit up will come in Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Timberwolves.
- Dru SmithDay-To-Day
Smith strained his right calf in the beginning of training camp and will end up missing the entire preseason. His next chance to play will come in Wednesday's regular-season opener against Minnesota.
- Giannis AntetokounmpoDay-To-Day
The superstar forward will sit out Miami's preseason finale, joining Bam Adebayo (groin) on the inactive list. Antetokounmpo figures to be available for Wednesday's regular-season opener against Minnesota.
- Pelle LarssonDay-To-Day
Larsson was initially expected to play Friday, though he's still under the weather. His next chance to suit up will come in Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Timberwolves.
Milwaukee Bucks
- Jericho SimsDay-To-Day
Sims was held out of Friday's preseason finale for undisclosed reasons. The big man's next opportunity to play will come in Wednesday's regular-season opener against Washington, though his absence wouldn't significantly impact the rotation.
- Nate AmentDay-To-Day
Ament ended the preseason with a third straight absence due to a left ankle sprain. The rookie forward's status will be worth monitoring ahead of Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Wizards, though his absence likely wouldn't cause too many waves in the rotation.
Minnesota Timberwolves
- Anthony EdwardsDay-To-Day
Edwards, Rudy Gobert, LaMelo Ball and Ayo Dosunmu all appear to be resting Friday. Edwards should be good to go for the regular-season opener against the Heat on Wednesday.
- Ayo DosunmuDay-To-Day
Dosunmu won't travel with the Timberwolves but is expected to be ready to go for their regular-season opener against the Heat on Wednesday. With the 26-year-old sidelined, Terrence Shannon, Isaiah Evans and Bones Hyland could see increased playing time.
DiVincenzo is approaching six months since tearing his right Achilles during the first round of the playoffs and has been rehabbing with the expectation that he'll play at some point this season. The veteran guard has sought advice from Jayson Tatum, Tyrese Haliburton and Damian Lillard during his recovery, though Minnesota has yet to establish a timetable for his return.
- Enrique FreemanDay-To-Day
Freeman will miss another preseason contest due to a shoulder injury he sustained in Saturday's 125-124 win over Miami. It's unknown if he will be ready to suit up when the Timberwolves begin the regular season Wednesday versus the Heat.
- Jaden McDanielsDay-To-Day
McDaniels will join several other key Timberwolves players on the inactive list Friday. However, he should be good to go by Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Heat.
- Jonathan KumingaDay-To-Day
Kuminga will join several other key contributors on the inactive list in Minnesota's preseason finale. He should be able to play in Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Heat.
- LaMelo BallDay-To-Day
Ball, Anthony Edwards, Rudy Gobert and Ayo Dosunmu will all sit for the final exhibition. Ball should be good to go for Wednesday's regular-season finale against the Heat.
- Nah'Shon HylandDay-To-Day
Hyland will receive Friday night off, joining several other key players on the inactive list for Minnesota. Isaiah Evans and Zyon Pullin will both likely see a significant bump in minutes Friday.
- Rocco ZikarskyDay-To-Day
This will be Zikarsky's third consecutive game on the inactive list, and the Timberwolves have not yet disclosed exactly what he's dealing with. For now, he should be considered questionable for Wednesday's regular-season opener in Miami.
- Rudy GobertDay-To-Day
Gobert, Anthony Edwards, LaMelo Ball and Ayo Dosunmu are all resting for the final exhibition. Gobert should be good to go for Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Heat.
- Trey LylesDay-To-Day
Lyles is one of many Timberwolves players sitting out the team's preseason finale. His next chance to play will come in Wednesday's regular-season opener against Miami.
New Orleans Pelicans
- Dejounte MurrayDay-To-Day
Murray looked good in the preseason opener on Oct. 7, but then sat out the final three exhibition games due to a toe issue. He'll have another four days to rest up before the Pelicans' regular-season opener against the Pacers on Oct. 21, and for now, he can be considered questionable for that one. If he's not ready by Opening Night, Jeremiah Fears and Jordan Poole would get a bump in value.
New York Knicks
- Josh HartDay-To-Day
Hart was held out of Thursday's preseason matchup against the Raptors due to right ankle soreness, but it doesn't appear as though he's in any danger of missing the season opener. It'll be worth monitoring his status over the next few days, but all signs point to him suiting up Tuesday.
Oklahoma City Thunder
- Cason WallaceDay-To-Day
It's unclear why Wallace isn't playing in the Thunder's preseason finale, and his next chance to play will come in Tuesday's regular-season opener against the Spurs. Ajay Mitchell will start in Wallace's stead Thursday.
- Chet HolmgrenDay-To-Day
Holmgren will miss the entire preseason due to a bruised quad. The team has yet to express any concern about the big man missing the regular-season opener Tuesday against San Antonio, but his availability should come into focus as the opener approaches.
- Jaylin WilliamsDay-To-Day
Williams will miss all five of Oklahoma City's preseason matchups while dealing with a heel issue. He'll be considered day-to-day leading up to Tuesday's regular-season opener Tuesday against San Antonio.
- Nikola TopicDay-To-Day
Topic continues to miss time while on the mend from a back injury. His next opportunity to take the court will arrive Tuesday in the regular-season opener against the Spurs.
- Otega OwehOut
Oweh exited Tuesday's preseason game against the Pacers with a non-contact injury that was later diagnosed as a ruptured right Achilles tendon. The No. 41 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft already faced an uphill battle for playing time on a loaded Thunder roster and will now miss his entire rookie campaign. Depending on his recovery progress, Oweh could be a candidate to participate in the 2027 Summer League.
- Thomas SorberDay-To-Day
Sorber will end up missing the entire preseason while recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery he underwent July 1. His next chance to play will come in Tuesday's regular-season opener against San Antonio, though he isn't expected to be a part of the rotation.
Orlando Magic
- Anthony BlackDay-To-Day
Black has missed the entire preseason for Orlando, but the team continues to insist that they are being cautious. Fantasy managers can consider him questionable ahead of Opening Night.
- Franz WagnerDay-To-Day
Per Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel, head coach Sean Sweeney did not provide an update after the game, simply saying that Wagner would be "re-evaluated." For what it's worth, Wagner did return to the bench after getting ruled out for the remainder of the game, but for now, he should be considered questionable for Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Hawks.
With Nelson still in recovery mode from the left ankle surgery he underwent this summer, his path back to game action remains delayed for the early part of the season. The rookie big man is on a two-way contract with the Magic, so his short-term absence mainly affects his developmental timeline rather than Orlando's regular rotation.
- Jase RichardsonDay-To-Day
Head coach Sean Sweeney said that Richardson will be re-evaluated after exiting Friday's contest. He can be considered questionable for Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Hawks until the Magic provide an update on his status.
- Jonathan IsaacDay-To-Day
Isaac has been a limited participant at training camp and did not make any appearances in the preseason. He's questionable at best ahead of Opening Night.
- Noah PendaDay-To-Day
Penda was limited at the start of training camp due to a right hamstring injury, and he's now in danger of missing Wednesday's regular-season opener against Atlanta. If the 21-year-old is forced to miss time, Jamal Cain could see a slight bump in minutes.
Philadelphia 76ers
- Adem BonaDay-To-Day
Bona has yet to appear in the preseason and will now miss the final exhibition. He did go through practice Thursday, however, giving him a chance to suit up for Opening Night as the backup center.
- Anfernee SimonsDay-To-Day
Simons is trending in the right direction and was able to practice in full Thursday. The 76ers will take a cautious approach for the final exhibition, however.
Hukporti went down with an Achilles injury in Monday's preseason opener against the Knicks, and an MRI has since revealed a rupture. He signed a one-year deal with the 76ers over the summer, so Hukporti will be an unrestricted free agent come season's end. With Hukporti's year already finished, Adem Bona (foot) should assume the backup center role behind Joel Embiid once healthy.
- Dean WadeDay-To-Day
Wade suffered an ankle injury in the first half, Kyle Neubeck of AllPHLY.com reports. Head coach Nick Nurse wasn't overly concerned but chose to keep him off the floor for the remainder of the contest. The 29-year-old, who signed with the 76ers in the offseason, should at least be considered questionable ahead of the Opening Night meeting with the Knicks. If Wade can't suit up, Anfernee Simons and Dominick Barlow would presumably each receive a few more minutes.
- Dominick BarlowDay-To-Day
Barlow missed the entire preseason with a back injury. He can be considered questionable for Tuesday's regular-season opener against the Knicks until further notice.
- Tacko FallDay-To-Day
Fall remained on the inactive list due to a left hip strain. He's signed to an Exhibit 10 contract and is in jeopardy of being waived before the team's regular-season opener versus New York on Tuesday.
- VJ EdgecombeDay-To-Day
Edgecombe will get the night off during the Sixers' preseason finale. The second-year swingman should be available for Tuesday's regular-season opener against the Knicks.
Phoenix Suns
- Luke KennardDay-To-Day
Kennard is dealing with left knee soreness, and while he'll take a seat Friday, the team doesn't this to turn into an extended absence, per Gambadoro. He can be considered day-to-day leading up to Wednesday's opener against Portland.
This is a tough blow for the center with training camp right around the corner. With his status for Opening Night in jeopardy, this will put a lot of eyes on Oso Ighodaro and Khaman Maluach, with the latter already drawing buzz during the Summer League. More clarity on Williams' timeline should be known in the coming weeks.
- Oso IghodaroDay-To-Day
Ighodaro is bothered by hip soreness. However, there hasn't been any indication that it will keep him off the floor for Opening Night versus Portland. If Ighodaro can't suit up for that contest, Khaman Maluach might get the start to begin the 2026-27 campaign.
Portland Trail Blazers
- Chris YoungbloodDay-To-Day
Youngblood will miss his third consecutive preseason contest due to lingering left calf soreness. It's unknown if he will be available for Opening Night versus Phoenix.
- Jrue HolidayDay-To-Day
The 36-year-old veteran will skip Portland's final exhibition game with some soreness in his shooting hand, but this shouldn't be anything that impacts his status for Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Suns. With Holiday unavailable, expect more minutes for Scoot Henderson and Vit Krejci.
- Micah PotterDay-To-Day
Potter isn't feeling well and will miss Portland's final exhibition match, but he should be good to go for Wednesday's regular-season opener versus Phoenix. Potter will conclude his preseason run with averages of 6.7 points and 3.0 rebounds in 10.8 minutes per game.
- Robert Williams IIIDay-To-Day
Williams will take the night off before presumably being available for Opening Night against Phoenix. The veteran big man is a capable statistical contributor, though he has battled injuries over the years. If Williams remains healthy, he should see steady minutes behind Donovan Clingan throughout the 2026-27 campaign.
It's a tough blow to the Trail Blazers' depth on the wing ahead of training camp. Sharpe, who is now likely to be sidelined until after the All-Star break, had been ticketed for a reserve role behind Toumani Camara following an injury-plagued 2025-26 campaign, which saw average a career-high 20.8 points, 1.4 steals and 2.1 three-pointers per game over 50 regular-season appearances. The door is now open for Vit Krejci and Jeremy Sochan to compete for bench minutes during camp.
Sacramento Kings
Cardwell appeared in 44 games last season, providing frontcourt depth while Domantas Sabonis dealt with injuries. Sacramento will also be without Maxime Raynaud (knee) to begin the campaign, leaving the team thin at center behind Sabonis. Cardwell's return timetable remains uncertain, but his absence could create additional opportunities for the Kings' remaining frontcourt reserves.
- Malik MonkDay-To-Day
Monk has been dealing with left ankle soreness throughout training camp and the preseason. While he hasn't been ruled out for Opening Night against Los Angeles, his availability will hinge on "how the ankle responds" leading up to the contest. If Monk isn't available, Nique Clifford should be considered the favorite to see more minutes.
Raynaud is recovering from a right patellar subluxation and appears set to begin the campaign on the sidelines. The young center appeared in 74 games last season, helping anchor Sacramento's frontcourt while Domantas Sabonis battled injuries. With Dylan Cardwell also sidelined, the Kings will be especially dependent on Sabonis until their reserve centers return.
San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs are expected to exercise extreme caution with the big man, as Quaintance suffered a torn ACL and meniscus with Arizona State in February 2025 before appearing in only four games with Kentucky last season due to severe complications and persistent swelling. The 19-year-old underwent a cleanup procedure on his meniscus in mid-July, and the Spurs will likely want him at 100 percent before ramping him up to basketball activities.
- Tobias HarrisDay-To-Day
"It's a calf strain, the seriousness is what it is," said Johnson. "We won't rush him at all. I guess the question will be is he ready for the season opener? Totally questionable and we will not push that at all. So, we'll take it slow. There is no concern of this level of seriousness, and at the same time, we will not rush him at all." It sounds like Harris, who has already been ruled out for the preseason, is in danger of missing opening night. His absence will open up minutes for Julian Champagnie, Keldon Johnson and Harrison Barnes.
Toronto Raptors
- Chucky HepburnDay-To-Day
Jamarion Sharp is taking Hepburn's spot on the roster. Hepburn, previously a two-way player for Toronto, is looking to recover from a hamstring injury and find a home elsewhere this season.
- Collin Murray-BoylesDay-To-Day
Toronto is sitting regulars for the preseason finale, giving the main pieces of the rotation time to rest up for Wednesday's season opener against the Bulls.
- Immanuel QuickleyDay-To-Day
Quickley will sit out the second leg of this back-to-back set and end the preseason on the inactive list. The point guard should be cleared to play in Wednesday's regular-season opener against Chicago.
- Ja'Kobe WalterDay-To-Day
Walter will join the rest of Toronto's regulars resting for the preseason finale. Once the regular season rolls around Wednesday, Walter is expected to play a reserve role on the wing as a three-point shooting specialist.
- Jakob PoeltlDay-To-Day
Poeltl will get the night off in the second half of this back-to-back set, though he should be good to go for Wednesday's regular-season opener against Chicago. With the big man out Friday, Trayce Jackson-Davis will likely see increased burn.
- Jamal SheadDay-To-Day
Toronto's regulars are getting the night off to rest up before Wednesday's season opener against the Bulls. Shead is expected to play a backup point guard role to begin the campaign.
- Kawhi LeonardDay-To-Day
Leonard looked sharp in his lone preseason appearance with 21 points in 17 minutes. His status ahead of Opening Night is not in doubt.
- Nate BittleDay-To-Day
Bittle can presumably be ruled out for the remainder of the preseason as he works his way back to full health. The big man was spotted in a walking boot in early September and remains without a clear timetable for a return to game action.
- RJ BarrettDay-To-Day
The Raptors are resting their entire first unit and possibly some key reserves. Barrett is expected to be ready to roll for Opening Night.
- Scottie BarnesDay-To-Day
Barnes will be getting a night off along with the entire starting lineup for Toronto. His status is not in any doubt for Opening Night, to be clear.
Utah Jazz
- Blake HinsonDay-To-Day
Hinson won't play in the final exhibition before the Jazz begin the season Wednesday against the Grizzlies. The 26-year-old averaged 7.0 points and 3.0 rebounds over 14.4 minutes in two preseason appearances.
- Jusuf NurkicOut
Nurkic will begin the 2026-27 season on the sidelines, and given the tricky nature of foot injuries for big men, it wouldn't be shocking to see his absence extend beyond this initial four-week window. Jaren Jackson will likely spend more time at center while Nurkic is out, and there will be more minutes available for Jaxson Hayes and Mo Bamba.
- Kyle FilipowskiDay-To-Day
Filipowski tweaked his back while lifting in the 2025-26 offseason, which caused painful sciatica down his leg throughout the campaign and limited his explosiveness. This offseason, he underwent surgery to fix the herniated disc in his back that was causing the pain, and he's still rehabbing. With Jusuf Nurkic (foot) slated to miss Opening Night, Filipowski's availability moving forward will be one to monitor closely.
- Trey AlexanderDay-To-Day
In his three preseason outings, Alexander averaged 2.3 points on 16.7 percent shooting in 8.9 minutes per game. He's not expected to have a significant role in the rotation for the Jazz this season.
Washington Wizards
- AJ DybantsaDay-To-Day
Dybantsa rolled his ankle before walking to the locker room in the second quarter of the Wizards' preseason finale, and he won't return for precautionary reasons. The rookie No. 1 overall pick's status will be worth monitoring ahead of Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Bucks.
Watkins, a two-way player for the Wizards, suffered the injury during the Summer League. Although Washington has yet to offer a timetable for a return, a typical recovery time for the procedure is approximately 9-to-12 months. That leaves Watkins in serious jeopardy of missing most, if not all, of the 2026-27 season, and it remains to be seen if the team will continue keeping him around on a two-way roster spot while he's injured.
Although the big man will remain a limited participant in training camp as he continues his rehab from a hip impingement, it sounds like his absence from game action will extend into the regular season. Deandre Ayton should have the backup center role all to himself until Vukcevic is cleared to retake the floor.
